Just came back after watching Paa and could not help penning down my thoughts about the movie. It’s simply beautiful and Amitabh Bachhan is completely adorable. Watching this movie confirms the belief that Amitabh Bachhan is indeed a superstar….he convincingly portrays every character that he takes up. And Auro is amongst his finest performances.
The best part is that you do not realize that you are seeing the Big B in the movie. You see a 12 year old child plagued with progeria, someone who knows about his illness and is still a happy soul. His playfulness with his friends, mother and granny make the movie a delightful watch despite its serious theme. A number of scenes make you smile and even laugh at the witty remarks of Auro and his friends.
Few scenes that I have liked personally include the one where Auro describes to his mother how he got an award for his work. Later, he interacts with his MP father and tries to fix up a date when the latter would take him to the Rashtrapati Bhavan. He is a busy person..he has to go to school…so he needs a confirmed date when the MP would take him on the trip. He also asks his mother if there is anyone troubling her in the hospital… he has an MP friend and can hence ask him to get things in place.
Then there is a scene where his friend is upset with his father but just can’t do anything. His father has the ‘proof’ that he is indeed his father! Moreover, there are so many similarities between the two!
There is a girl in the school who finds Auro very sweet, but Auro runs for his life every time he spots her.
These are just few of sweet moments of the movie. There are many more and they steal your heart with their sheer simplicity.
There is absolutely no drama in the movie. Even the relationship between Vidya Balan and Abhishek Bachhan has been portrayed sans any heavy dialogues. Both of them have delivered fine performances. Vidya Balan has looked really pretty in the movie. Arundhati, as Auro’s granny is extremely charming as well.
Paa is an excellent movie to watch. The first half is complete fun. The latter part of the second half is bit serious but not heavy. For Big B’s fan, this movie is definitely not to be missed out one.
Do go and enjoy this wonderful movie as soon as you get time.
